Do all Disney Cruises have a formal night? If ..

I used Jen Filling from Perfect Story Travel and she was amazing to work with. This dress became one of my favorites on the cruise. I’ve since gone back and bought a few other prints in the same style at Old Navy. It’s comfortable with a stretchy waist and runs true to size (I’m in a Large). Just a note that out on the deck when the ship is moving it is VERY WINDY.

Formal Night on a Disney Cruise: A Classroom for Kids Dining Etiquette

Gone are the days when you would be sent back to your stateroom to change if you were wearing jeans. You will see a huge diversity of outfits in the restaurant. Mostly it is what is popularly known as “cruise casual”. We "dress" for formal night, but don't let how others are decked out color our experience. The Disney Dream just completed its first Eastbound Transatlantic Cruise. It left Miami on May 7, 2023, on its way to Barcelona.

It is less expensive than Remy, which is the French restaurant currently only on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. Admittedly, our costumes just added to our suitcase load and the number of items we took, so take that into consideration.

Do all Disney Cruises have a formal night? If so which night is it?”

Set up a salon visit for your guy or gal and really get into the formal night theme. It’s a chance for kids to get pampered before their formal night dinner. And there’s all kinds of packages you can choose from.

Except you are asked to wear a cover-up if you are wearing swim wear. European and Alaskan Disney cruises also have a themed deck party on one night. Each Disney ship has 3 main rotational dining rooms.

This might be for a princess photo session or for dinner on formal night. If it’s not your daughter’s thing, that’s completely fine. If you do decide to have your daughter wear princess attire, you can buy dresses on the ship or bring them from home. In my opinion, some of the most charming princess attire is homemade.

We are on the Dream for a 5 night cruise next month. Another tip you’ll want to remember is that there is a good amount of walking on the ship. You can adjust according to age or areas your kids may need some extra help. But use it as an opportunity to teach them how to properly dine out at a restaurant.

Disney Cruise Lanyards: How to Choose, Use, and Enjoy!

We dressed and loved it though I'd say there were a number of people who didn't. My daughter loves getting dressed up and we really had fun. We dress up, we've always felt that the formal nights were part of the whole "cruise experience".

There is a special Captain’s Gala Night Menu which will be served in each of the rotational dining restaurants on your cruise. There will be two Captain’s Welcome Receptions on Formal Night for your Disney Cruise. This is to fit in with the two dinner seatings for the rotational dining restaurants.

The accompanying salad and dressing were really tasty too. Usually the Captain’s Welcome Reception starts at 5.15 and 7.30. This means you can go to the Reception and still be on time for dinner. On Disney Cruises of 7 nights or more, there will be a Captain’s Welcome Reception on Formal Night. This is one of the highlights of a Disney Cruise.

I buy a lot of my cases on AliExpress as they are super cheap as long as you don’t mind it taking a while to get to you. My husband and I live on the East Coast of Canada. When I am not working I love travelling, crafting, photography, playing board games, and planning vacations. Sign up for our newsletter to get the latest Disney Cruise news. Order everything on the menu and don’t give it a second thought. I’ve never seen an official definition of this anywhere. In my personal observation, most people interpret semi-formal to mean formal, but without the tux or long gown in the mix. For men, this often means a standard suit, with or without a tie. For women, this typically means a cocktail dress of approximately knee length. But as with formal night, you’ll see broad interpretation of style represented.

Cruise casual, defined by Disney, is anything except swimwear and tank tops. Feel free to wear shorts, sundresses, capris or dressier options for those nights deemed cruise casual. While the dress code in the three main rotational dining rooms is optional, the dress code in the adults-only restaurants, Remy and Palo, is a requirement. I’ve never seen anyone turned away from the main dining rooms for dress code violations. I have seen guests asked to leave Palo when they’ve arrived wearing inappropriate attire.

As with formal and semi-formal night, how you decide to dress is up to you. A sizable minority of guests wear full pirate attire with custom designed clothing and boots. Another sizable minority wears just their regular clothing, with no nod to the pirate festivities going on around them. Our formal night was Easter Sunday, a holiday on which you might expect a larger than typical portion of the guests to be gussied up.
